NFL Week 6 2017 Bookie Betting Report
It has been a good year to be a local bookie taking action on the NFL through the first five weeks of the season and there are a couple of great opportunities to cash in this week in light of the betting odds on the board for a few heavy home-town favorites.
Things get underway on Thursday night with a big showdown in the NFC between the 4-1 Philadelphia Eagles and the 4-1 Carolina Panthers in an 8:25 p.m. (ET) start on CBS from Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers have held steady as three-point home favorites and the total is set at 45. The favorite in this matchup has covered against the spread in four of the last five meetings.
Sunday’s early action features an AFC East tilt between the 3-2 New England Patriots and the surprising 3-2 New York Jets. The Patriots are listed as heavy 9.5-point road favorites for this 1 p.m. start on CBS and the total has been set at 47.5. New England has failed to cover in four of its last five trips to MetLife Stadium to face the Jets.
Another big division showdown at 1 p.m. on FOX is a NFC North clash between 4-1 Green Bay and 3-2 Minnesota at US Bank Stadium. The Packers come in as three-point favorites with the total set at 46.5 points. They have a straight-up 5-2 edge in their last seven road games against the Vikings, but Minnesota has covered in four of the last six meetings.
In other early betting action with some big betting spreads, Houston (2-3) is a 10-point home favorite against winless Cleveland with the total set at 46.5 points. Miami is 2-2 (SU and ATS) and it will go on the road to face 3-1 Atlanta as an 11.5-point underdog and the total for this 1 p.m. start on CBS has been set at 47. Washington (2-2 SU and ATS) returns from its bye week as a heavy 10-point home favorite against 0-5 San Francisco and the total for this 1 p.m. start on FOX is set at 46.5 points.
Closing out the early games on Sunday’s slate, 1-4 Chicago will go on the road as a 6.5-point underdog to face the 3-2 (SU and ATS) Baltimore Ravens. The total line for this inter-conference tilt on FOX has been set at 39.5.
The featured matchup in Sunday’s late games is an AFC showdown between the 3-2 Pittsburgh Steelers and the 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs in a 4:25 p.m. kickoff on CBS from Arrowhead Stadium.
The Steelers have lost two of their last three games to Chicago on the road and to Jacksonville at home as solid favorites and they have been listed as 4.5-point underdogs for this contest. Kansas City is also a perfect 5-0 ATS this season and the total has gone OVER in four of the five games. The total for this contest has been set at 45.5.
The 3-2 Los Angeles Rams will be on the road against Jacksonville (3-2) as 2.5-point underdogs with the total set at 42.5, while 2-3 Arizona plays host to Tampa Bay (2-2) as a two-point underdog in the other two late starts on Sunday’s slate.
The New York Giants are still looking for their first SU victory of the season against five defeats as heavy 11.5-point road underdogs against 3-1 Denver this Sunday night in an 8:30 p.m. start on NBC from Mile High. The betting line for the total in this inter-conference matchup is set at 39.5.
Monday night’s AFC South showdown between the 2-3 Indianapolis Colts and the 2-3 Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in an 8:30 p.m. start on ESPN is still ‘off the board’ in light of Titans’ quarterback Marcus Mariota’s uncertain playing status due to a bad hamstring.
